History

The Parke County Poor Asylum was first built in 1930. It was destroyed by fire later in 1930 and rebuilt a few years later. The facility contained the main building, an old jail house, a brick barn, and two pole barns. The facility was closed in 2009 due to owners not paying taxes, and was officially closed in 2010.
