I had always been curious about the sanitarium that was located across the street from the house where I grew up. Earlier this year I began to write a series of posts about it on my blog. As a result, both a former patient and a former medical resident contacted me and wrote guest blogs about their experiences. In addition, several other former employees and relatives of former patients left comments.
I didn't receive permission to post their articles anywhere beside my blog, so I'm not quoting them here. I don't mean to be promoting my blog, when I'd like to share this information here and hopefully find additional resources for my research. But if you're interested you can see this information, plus recent photographs of the remaining buildings appear on my blog.
I did upload a photo titled Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium, but couldn't figure out how to link it to this message. It's the last remaining cottage, and it's currently used as a Nature Center on what is now Chicago Park District property.
