Does anyone know someone I can contact to help me do some research for my school project. I would really need some officials contacts to interview them. Please help me , regards ,[email protected]

What official contacts are you looking for? Anyone directly with the hospital is long retired by now since the hospital closed in the early 1970s. I can email you the only contact I have of a retired employee.

I've been told that my GGGrandfather died penniless at Dunning. I have also been told that all records had been destroyed. Has anyone had success in finding information. I don't know when he died, but I would guess between 1864 and 1875.

Pt records
Is there anyway to get copies the my grandmothers records? She was in Dunning somewhere between
the 1950's thru 1960's. If not is there somewhere else I could get them?

Unfortunately those records are long gone. They were either destroyed or lost when the hospital closed.

Is there an index w/date of birth of inmates somewhere
I would think that there would be at least a list of names kept somewhere. I am looking for an individual relative just up and disappeared on or about 1934-35. Is there a search engine avail?
How about prison records of the state?

I believe at onetime someone was working on a database of burials but I never could find it. Death records aren't easy to find for Illinois. As far as prison records, you can try this link;

If your a relative you can request records, although I should warn you it usually isn't easy to do. I've been told most of the old Dunning records disappeared years ago.

My great grandmother was admitted to dunning state hospital . Her name was Lillian Hagen her adult children admitted her against her wishes shortly after the death of her husband. She was simply grieving and depressed. She was always looking for a way out of there and she found it! In July of 1966 Lillian Hagen was found dead in a drainage ditch inside the hospital grounds. I am very interested in obtaining her records and finding out where she was buried or if her body was cremated. There's an article about the staff finding her dead published in the Chicago tribune July 14 1964 page 31. Lillian A Hagen born April 4 1901 was married to David Hagen. Had three children with David Hagen. 1. Florence Dorothy Hagen 2.Herbert Hagen 3. Norman Hagen. My name is Cindy Doyle my email address is [email protected] if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be forever grateful!! Sincerely Cindy Doyle

Is potters field a cemetery built on the dunning state hospital property. I am beginning to wonder if her body was thrown into a grave with several other deceased people. If she were cremated can I find that out.

Mary Benedict d. 20 Dec 1967 at Chicago State Hospital
Cemetery noted to be "Cook County Morgue"

Do you know how to find any records on this?
Thank you.
