Rather than starting a new thread every time I find an interesting article I'm just going to park some research here. Found this link to a book published in 1906 and not copy written that has info on sanitariums at the time. [1]

It's amazing the stuff they ahve archived I've found loads of good stuff there and am hoping to fill in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota as best I can. I know a bit about a lot fo the facilities in all of those states as I have lived in all of them. I filled in a bit in hawaii too but that's mostly because I was hoping to find myself a job there.

She was a former ward of River Pines TB sanatorium in Stephens Point, WI who became a catholic nun after her time in the sanatorium. Some information on the sanatorium can be found in the brief history of her life. [2] general information on several sanatoriums can be found here. I will try and update and finish several of the Wisconsin sanatoriums information as time allows.

http://www.alookatcook.com/1900/ Stumbled on this when researching Chicago institutions. Part of the site has a list of the benevolence institutions in Chicago C 1900. The link above talks about the changes that were made to the address numbering system in Chicago in the early 1900's and a lot of Chicago history. between 1909 and 1930 street names and numbers changed in several places making it very hard to find where certain items are or were.

The Columbian building was donated after the Exposition and used as the Jackson Park Sanatorium or La Rabida.

can't find much on hospitls/sanitoriums in the state of md. apparently the state goes to great measures to hide the fact that they were there, and imposes harsh trespassing penalties. all i want is some photos...
