Hi Everyone,
Many of you might know of my project but I wanted to post it here so folks could have a look at what I am doing with the suitcases from the Willard, NY Asylum. I ran a successful kickstarter project last autumn and am still in the process of photographing the suitcases discovered in an attic at the asylum. Comments are much appreciated. Here is a link to the kickstarter page http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/265363123/willard-asylum-suitcase-documentation and here is a link to my wordpress site where I am posting regular updates http://www.joncrispin.wordpress.com I hope this is an appropriate venue to mention this project. I think many of you might find it interesting. Best and thanks. Jon

Hi Jon and welcome! It is a great project & look forward to more updates. I missed the exhibit when it was in Chicago a while back. Makes you wonder how many other state hospitals had the same things left behind but they were thrown out or lost with demolition.

I'm guessing A LOT! Most hospitals that I know of, being self sufficient, had landfills or burn areas for trash located somewhere on the property.

Squad, The Chicago exhibit is from a different project. Mine is just focused on the cases. It will be at the Exploratorium in SF next April. Best, and thanks, Jon

I'm glad to hear about it. At first I thought you were associated with the traveling exhibit. It sounds cool and I look forward to seeing more.

Squad,I think the Chicago exhibit was this one http://www.chrispaynephoto.com/pdf/Asylum_Exhibit.pdf from Chris Payne. I can understand the confusion as one of the touring promotional pictures was a photograph he has of the suitcases in the attic at Bolivar Hospital. Definitely a cool project- Best of Luck Mr. Crispin.
