If you use eBay to collect postcards then you've surely came across various and assundry hospital "artifacts" as well. They include but are not limited to souvenir spoons, plates, pieces of demolished buildings, pins, or any item used at or coming from an asylum. I've collected a few items over the years and am starting this thread for anyone to showcase anything asylum related that is not a photo or postcard.

I also have a PA Dept of Mental Heath pin at home (probably once belonged to a nurse).

Cool! I knew I was leaving something off when I was listing stuff, it was patches. I passed on a St. Elizabeths patch a few years ago and really regret it, anything from there is pretty hard to come by.

Which "WSH" is your security patch from?

The W.S.H. is supposed to be Warren State Hospital (though I have no real way of verifying that). The N.S.H. one in the bottom row is Norristown State Hospital.

The W.S.H patch has got to be Warren, what other place would use a keystone patch? :P

This one is from there for sure

I have other state hospital artifacts, document's, blueprints, etc but dont have them scanned or even a way to scan things so big.

Duh... Very true!

As for your large artifacts you can just take a digital photograph... You do have one of those new fangled computer picture takers don't you?

I'll see what I can do. I have the originial patient ledger for Norristown's Males Dept from the 1800s, I take some pictures of that in a few weeks when Im home.

Nice patches, for some reason PA seemed to issue them for individual hospitals. Most states were cheap and used the same generic one that usually just said "security" with the state seal.

Danvers window bars & fire hose holder from Nor'East Architectural Antiques, BTW they are back up & running after the fire in '08.

Acquired a pile of these, also some nurses log books etc.

Some of my Manteno "chunks" from the Mitchell demolition. I have a couple larger pieces residing in a garden in Gary. Somewhere I have other Manteno stuff like a patient shoe and bricks.

Nice collection Squad! After the fire I totally forgot about Nor'East. It's good to hear that they are back up and running. Didn't that happen right after the Northampton demolition? Do you know if everything from there and Danvers lost?

Yeah, those pins are pretty nice!

As for Nor'East, they said most of the Danvers items were already sold minus some doorknobs & other odds & ends they lost. I think they said they salvaged some Met State items.

Yea, most Danvers stuff was stripped just before the place was gutted. Heck, remember that guy who was selling Danvers bricks?

Though, those are some sweet pins though. I do try to keep my eyes open for them whenever the antique show comes around, but I've only really ever saw regular nursing pins.
