Hi. I am trying to find out if my grand Aunt Annabelle Holland Daniels is buried at this hospital's cemetery. I only have a birth date of 1895. I believe she was born in Cape Vincent, NY. I know she married Perl Daniels on April 20, 1920 and this marriage was annulled. The US Census for 1930 and 1940 have her listed as an inmate of this hospital. Her parents were Thomas Holland 1855-1919 and Sarah Isabelle Gummer 1857 - 1910. I have found both of their graves in Cape Vincent. Annabelle was the youngest of four daughters. One of the daughters, Ethel Holland Bishop, is my grandmother. I understand the medical confidentiality laws. I am wondering if you can point me in the right direction to determine if she is in fact buried in this cemetery with just a number and no headstone. Thank you. Pam Young 3-22-2013

I didn't have much luck finding her outside of the census records or city directories. Unfortunately old death records, including death certificates, aren't available to researchers online. I found one mention on a genealogy forum stating all the graves are marked with only a number. You should try contacting the hospital, they have the list and could tell you if she's buried there.

I am trying to find info on my grandfather's oldest brother, Frank Hoffnagle. He died in 1913 and family notes say he died at the hospital. Does that mean he was buried there? You said try contacting the hospital. Do you have that information?
Thanks,

Above your last post, squad had posted the hospitals contact information. You might also try contacting the county and seeing if the burial place was listed on the death certificate. Not all counties record that, but some do.

St Lawrence State Hospital
I am trying to find out what the reason is my grandfather Melvin Earl Benway who died in Nov. 1959 was in St Lawrence State Hospital where he was treated for 8 yrs. I am adopted and curious of what his medical history. The obituary says that he was a "resident of Dannemora" prior to entering the St Lawrence Hosptial. I was told by someone he was mentally ill? Just want to sort out the facts.Wondering if he was in due to mental illness or was he a criminal? I saw the graves marked with numbers near the asylum for people with mental illness when I visited. I just want to know why he was in the State prinson and if due to mental illness or a criminal act?

St Lawerence Mental Hospital
I was able to get info in 1988-1990. Now nothing have called the hospital and the stste. No luck al of my grandmothers children died by 1993. She is buried in an unmarked grave on the grounds. That's all I can find other than census that she was an inmate for 13 months before she died of TB and heart problems. Shea was only 27 ys old.

Looking for answers
My grandfather was born in 1943. He is curious about his parents as he doesn't know who his father was and his mother was a patient when he was born. He was removed from her when he was approximately 2 and raised by hos aunt and uncle who never got the chance to tell him before he they died. His mothers name was Ruby and that is all he knows. Can lead me in the right direction to get him some answers about his parents and where he came from?

St Lawrence Hospital records
Searching for 1835- 1840 records on a patient named Arlington Reynolds. He was married to Flora Gray. Can anyone assist in the locating of these records?
