The earliest Jay County home was established in 1836. The current county home dates from 1895 and since 1984 has been a retirement facility. The Neo-Jacobean main building is constructed in a T-plan with the superintendent’s residence in the front and the two wings extending out from the back. At one point in time the property included the main building, a basement barn, a hay feeder, hay barn, garage, tool shed, blacksmith shop, slaughterhouse, chicken coop, windmill, and cemetery.

The earliest Jay County home was established in 1836. The current county home dates from 1895 and since 1984 has been a retirement facility. The Neo-Jacobean main building is constructed in a T-plan with the superintendent’s residence in the front and the two wings extending out from the back. At one point in time the property included the main building, a basement barn, a hay feeder, hay barn, garage, tool shed, blacksmith shop, slaughterhouse, chicken coop, windmill, and cemetery.
