Family at Cherokee Institute for the Insane

I am looking for any records for my great great grandfather who was institutionalized at Cherokee Institute for the Insane. He was there from at least 1930 to 1940 but I think longer. Is there a way I can find out the years he was there as well as the reason? I'm not sure that my family members are even aware of this.

Searching for records of my great uncle William Grosshauser

Searching for records of my great uncle William Grosshauser who we know was institutionalized from 1910 till his death in November of 1945. Family folklore says he suffered a heat stroke doing farm work which caused his mental decline.

Also searching for record of his brother Fred Grosshauser who according to a newspaper clipping circa 1912 was institutionalized for a short time after the death of his wife in childbirth being left with three small children.

Thank you for your help. Janet Koenig [email protected]
