History

In 1945, an act of the legislature established a statewide system of receiving hospitals for the treatment of people in the early stages of mental illness who might respond to early and intensive treatment. Woodside Receiving Hospital in Youngstown opened that year, while facilities in Cleveland and Cuyahoga Falls opened a year later. After closure by the state, it re-opened as Lincoln Behavioral Center, a privately run facility for juveniles with mental illness. Their funding ran out & was closed in 2008.

Woodside Receiving Hospital was located on the south side of Youngstown, in the Lansingville neighborhood.
