− | The Parke County Poor Asylum | + | The Parke County Poor Asylum was first built in 1930, and destroyed later in the same year, and rebuilt a few years later. The facility contained the main building, an old jail house, a brick barn, and two pole barns. The facility was closed in 2009 due to owners not paying taxes, and was officially closed by the state in 2010. Currently the building is abandoned and owned by an unknown owner. Building is set for remodelled but no one is sure when these changes will take place. There is excessive vandalism all throughout the building and many people claim that it is haunted. If you enter the building without permission you could revive multiple charges including a Class-D felony. |
